Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery is inviting children to come along to the Museum this summer for some hands-on holiday fun.

Each of the following activities runs from 10.30am to 12.30pm and costs £12 for one adult and up to two children – which includes all day Museum entry. Booking is essential.

Tuesday 22 July – Puppet Pandemonium!
Make some puppets to star in our time-travelling tale of old Shrewsbury town!
Suitable for ages 5+.

Tuesday 29 July – All at Sea
Ahoy there, me hearties! Join us for a morning devoted to crafts and activities relating to the sea. “Shiver my timbers, we’ll be a jolly crew…”
Suitable for ages 3+

Tuesday 5 August – Weaving into History
There was no popping out to the shops for our ancestors – if they needed a new outfit they had to make it! Find out how they did it in this hands-on session all about ‘bobbin and weaving’!
Suitable for ages 3+

Tuesday 12 August – Mapping the Past
Help us find a way through history in this active workshop, and follow the clues around the Museum to hunt out lots of quirky treasures from the past.
Suitable for ages 5+

Tuesday 19 August – Pottering with the Romans
Be really ‘hands-on’ in this Clay Craft session. You will be able to take home everything you make!
Suitable for ages 3+

Tuesday 26 August – Light Fantastic
Add some colour and light to the end of your holiday by having a go at creating some beautiful ‘stained glass’ items, and by doing a bit of glass painting.
Suitable for ages 7+

In addition, on Thursday 24 July and Thursday 28 August it’s ‘We’re going on a mammoth hunt!’.

Children will be able to squelch through the mud and splash-splosh through the water on our imaginative ‘hunt’. They’ll enjoy a ‘hunter-gatherer’ picnic and make something to take home in our Mammoth based craft session. Children can bring their own Ice-Age toys and dress like a cave man or woman!
