Related topics: Uncategorized

Shropshire Council is reminding people about parking arrangements in Shrewsbury town centre on the days of the Shrewsbury Flower Show (Friday 8 and Saturday 9 August 2014).

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council Cabinet member for highways, said:

“We work with the organisers of the Shrewsbury Flower Show, Shropshire Horticultural Society each year and would like to remind everyone once again that on the days of the show several car parks, including Frankwell Main Long Stay and Frankwell Riverside Short Stay, will be designated and signed as Flower Show car parks.

“There is plenty of car parking for the show so please follow the AA signs into your designated car park. If you are visiting Shrewsbury, but not the flower show, we’d advise you to consider using one of the Park and Ride services. It should be another great event and it always brings a special atmosphere around the town’’

Parking your car if you are visiting the show

On the days of the show Shropshire Council’s Frankwell Main Long Stay Car Park and Frankwell Riverside Short Stay Car Park will be designated as Flower Show car parks, for use by people visiting the show. In addition there are temporary car parks at Radbrook Road, Burrs Field & the Shropshire County Show Ground.

Motorists are advised to use one of these designated Flower Show car parks by following the ‘AA – Flower Show’ direction signs which will be actively managed throughout the day to help you to reach the most suitable car park.

The Radbrook Road and the Shropshire County Show Ground car parks which are further away from the town centre will have a frequent free shuttle bus service direct to and from the showground. Low floored buses will be available for visitors in wheelchairs or with pushchairs.

Each of the Flower Show car parks will be open from 9am on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 August, and the cost will be £4.50 per car all day. There will be sufficient car parking for all cars visiting the show.

Parking for non Flower Show cars will be available at Frankwell sports field before 9am, at a cost of just £2 all day

St. Julian’s Friars car park will not be open for public car parking on either 8 or 9 August.
