The Shrewsbury Carnival takes place tomorrow, Saturday 14 June 2014, and will require some town centre streets to be closed.

The carnival this year is incorporating a running race and is in memorial to Keith Ivison, a founder member of The Shropshire Shufflers, and will precede the carnival parade along the same route.  The race will start at 1.45pm and the carnival parade at approximately 2pm, from The Quarry proceeding along Smithfield Road, Castle Street, St Mary’s Street, Dogpole, High Street, Shoplatch, Barker Street and Victoria Quay (and Claremont Bank for the runners) back to The Quarry.  Roads will be reopened at approximately 3.30pm.

Shops and businesses are open as usual and there will be bus services operating with temporary terminals provided at various locations near to the town centre.
