The minor road between Llanfair Waterdine over the River Teme to Lloyney Village will be closed for up to six weeks to carry out essential repair works Lloyney No.2 Bridge over the River Teme.

The road will be closed from Monday 7 July 2014. While the road is closed a diversion route will be signed directing traffic around using the B4355 toward Knucklas and over the River Teme at Mynaughty Poeth Bridge.

The essential repair work needs to be carried out because of scour damage under the bridge following this year’s winter flooding. The work will include placing large boulder stone under the bridge and placing a concrete apron to protect the north bridge abutment from future scour damage. There will also be some work carried out to stabilise the downstream training wall.

The work will be carried out by the Shropshire Councils Highways term maintenance contractor Ringway supervised by our consultants Mouchel.

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council Cabinet member for highways, said:

“Due to the narrow nature of the road over the bridge, the work can only be safely carried out by closing the road to traffic. There will also be times when the road is closed to pedestrians and dismounted cyclists for reasons of safety, but our contractors always aim to complete the work as well and as fast as they can to allow the road to be reopened as early as possible.”
