Wilfred Owen School scoots to success

Related topics: Community / Partner organisations

Wilfred Owen School in Shrewsbury took part in a Sustrans Bike Count competition during February 2014 and are now the proud owners of a Scooter Pod! Scooter and Cycle pods are made from recycled products and can store up to 12 scooters.

The data collected during the scooter and cycle monitoring allows Sustrans to keep track of the number of children who chose to travel sustainably to school. Through fun outdoor and classroom activities such as poster competitions and cycle skills sessions, Sustrans hopes to increase to understanding of choosing smarter travel choices.

Sustrans Bike it Officer Jess Holohan said:

“Scooting and cycling school is a great way for children to keep fit and healthy.  It has also helped to reduce the traffic levels around Wilfred Owen School.  I hope that with their new storage, even more families will begin making smarter travel choices for their journeys to school.”
