Lots of information and advice at adult social care event

Information stalls are being snapped up for an event to promote the variety of adult social care support on offer in Shropshire.

The “Personalisation: Our stories” event will take place at Shirehall, Shrewsbury, on 4 April 2014 – and anyone who uses or has an interest in adult services is warmly invited to attend.

About 30 voluntary and community organisations and charities have so far confirmed their attendance for the event, when they will be sharing information about their services and how they can help people.

Groups coming along to the event, which will run between 10am and 2pm, include Shropshire Housing Group, Action For Children, Qube in Oswestry and Signal.

There will also be information and practical demonstrations of equipment aids and assistive technology so people can get an idea of what is available and how to access it.

People who come along to the event will be able to share their experiences of using adult social care in a “Big Brother”-style video diary room, with all comments being used to help improve the way adult services are provided in the future.

Councillor Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council Cabinet member for adult services, said:

“The event is a great chance for people to come and share their experiences of using support services in Shropshire, and finding out about the kind of support being provided by a wide variety of organisations.

“We hope it will be and enjoyable and useful event, and look forward to seeing lots of people there.”
