Consultation on proposed highway measures for Shifnal

Related topics: Community

Shropshire Council is asking for residents’ views on proposals for highway measures in Shifnal. An exhibition will be held on Thursday 20 March 2014 from 2:00pm until 6:30pm at the Trinity Methodist Church hall on Victoria Road and officers from Shropshire Council will be available to answer your questions.

The exhibition will provide information on investigation work that has been undertaken for Shifnal in relation to future housing development. As well as this, the officers will be presenting a number of concept proposals for improvements to the highway. These improvements aim to help those who chose to walk, cycle, use public transport or drive in Shifnal.

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council Cabinet member for highways, said:

“We’re looking to get some feedback from the public about the issues we’ve found and on the measures we’re proposing to take to address them. I hope that locals will come and hear the proposals and share their thoughts.”

Kevin Turley, Shropshire Council local member for Shifnal North, said:

“This is Shifnal’s chance to mould its future. Highways are a big concern of Shifnal residents so I hope to see many residents there to give their views. Whether it is speeding traffic or queuing traffic or problems around the schools, it is all on discussion so please come down and share. The more we have to work with the better.”
