Housing support services to be discussed at Bridgnorth LJC

Related topics: Community / Democracy

The next Bridgnorth, Worfield, Alveley and Claverley Local Joint Committee (LJC) will welcome Sue Adams, Managing Director of Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, to talk about the housing support available to communities.

Everyone is invited to attend the meeting, which will be held from 7pm, with a drop in from 6p-7pm, on Thursday 20 February 2014 at St James’ Church Hall, Lodge Lane, Bridgnorth.

Councillor Christian Lea, LJC Chairman, explained:

“Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, and other housing providers, play a crucial role in our communities, and it is really important that residents fully understand this role, particularly in the light of the recent changes to benefits and wider welfare reform.  From 6pm officers from Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, Shropshire Council and West Mercia Police will be on hand to provide advice and guidance, and to deal with any queries that members of the community have.

“We are also delighted to be meeting in the recently-refurbished St James’s Church, where an exciting range of services are being developed for the community.  We urge local residents to come along to find out more.

“Another area of discussion will be around the future of LJCs, and their emerging role in the commissioning of local services.”
