The Bishop’s Castle, Chirbury and Worthen, and Clun Local Joint Committee (LJC) meeting postponed in Thursday 13 February 2014 has now been rearranged for Thursday 6 March 2014 at Bishop’s Castle Public Hall, starting at 7pm.

The agenda will again focus on emergency services in the LJC area and will include speakers from the Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group, West Midlands Ambulance Service, and the Air Ambulance.  The speakers will talk about how their respective services deal with emergencies in the area, how they work together on a co-ordinated response to emergencies, and what future changes to service there might be in the future.

In addition there will also be an update on Shropshire Council’s budget, and local working arrangements from Chris Edwards, Shropshire Council’s area commissioner.  The meeting also provides members of the public with a chance to ask their local Shropshire Councillors and town and parish council representatives questions.

The committee will review funding applications at the meeting, which includes a bid for a new projector screen by the SpArC Arts project in Bishop’s Castle, support for the annual Bucknell Show, and new songbooks for the Llanfair Waterdine singers.

Councillor Nigel Hartin, chairman of the LJC, said:

“We are all aware of the challenges our emergency services face in attending incidents in south west Shropshire.  The meeting at Bishop’s Castle will give us the opportunity to hear more about how our emergency services are working together to meet these challenges.  We have also asked for a further update on the changes at Shrewsbury and Telford hospitals which were discussed at our last meeting in October 2013.”
