Central planning decisions – 5 December 2013

The following planning decisions were made by Shropshire Council’s Central planning committee at its meeting on Thursday 5 December 2013 in Shrewsbury.

Land East of Cound Brook, Green Farm Lane, Condover (13/03519/FUL)

Construction and operation of a solar photovoltaic park, including provision of site access, fencing, CCTV, invertors and sub-station. 

Decision:  That, subject to it being noted that members are minded to approve the scheme, consideration of the application be deferred to the next meeting in order for members to have sight of and consider the comments of the Environment Agency, which had recently been received. 

Land East of The Beacon, Copthorne Road, Shrewsbury, SY3 8LP (13/02251/FUL)

Residential development comprising 21 retirement apartments with communal facilities; formation of vehicular and pedestrian accesses, associated car parking and landscaping. 

Decision: That, subject to a Section 106 Agreement to secure an off-site affordable housing contribution in lieu of onsite provision to be agreed with the housing enabling team, planning permission be granted in accordance with the officer’s recommendation. 

Holy Cross Almshouses, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, SY2 6BS (13/03670/FUL)

Construction of 25 Almshouses Sheltered Apartments and 27 Open Market Apartments together with associated roadways, car parks landscaping and drainage. 

Decision: That planning permission be granted in accordance with the officer’s recommendation, subject to:

  •  a Section 106 Agreement to secure a contribution towards traffic management improvements on Horsefair, flood defences and affordable housing;
  • and delegated authority to be given to the area planning manager to resolve the outstanding flooding and drainage issues.
