Family law information available at Oswestry children’s centre

Oswestry residents are able to get free information on family issues at legal drop-in sessions that started this month at a local children’s centre in Oswestry.

The sessions are part of an initiative by Shropshire Council to develop a community hub at Woodside School to support parents with children aged 0-11 years.

Nathan Wright, Family Solicitor, a Partner with leading Shropshire and North Wales law firm GHP Legal, will be on hand to answer questions and concerns at Woodside Children’s Centre in Gittin Street every Wednesday, from 8.30am–10.30am.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children’s services – transformation and safeguarding, said:

“This is a great opportunity for parents and carers to get free legal advice on all aspects of the law affecting children and young people.  Understanding aspects of the law is a complex matter, and dealing with agencies involved in the law can be daunting.  I am delighted that GHP Legal is supporting local parents and carers to help make this process easier.
“Shropshire Council has identified a need in this area to provide families with free access to information on a variety of legal issues and family law, and GHP Legal was glad to step in and help.

“When parents are dropping their children off to school in the mornings they will be able to call in and see me without an appointment.  The sessions will be of particular benefit to families who may not know how, or be confident enough, to access legal services through a solicitors office.”

Vince Hunt, local Shropshire Councillor for Oswestry West, said:

“I am delighted that GHP Legal have offered to give this service in the hub.  It is an exciting concept, and my full thanks go to all involved, and in particular to Woodside School for offering to host and engage to offer these services at the school.  It is a forward-thinking concept, which I am pleased to be a part of.”
