A new initiative targeted at companies who take their social responsibility seriously, and see how it can help them to win new business, is being launched in Shropshire and has already secured its first members.

Claire Carter, Co-ordinator of ShropShare, said:

“We are delighted to have already signed up some great Shropshire-based companies ahead of the launch.  Caterpillar Shrewsbury Ltd has become our first Premier Member, and Shrewsbury College of Arts & Technology, Lanyon Bowdler, Hunter Bevan and Morris and Company Ltd have also signed up.  To have such high calibre and well-respected names on board ahead of its official launch is really positive, and should help to attract other businesses.”

Caterpillar Shrewsbury Facility Manager Steve Brown said:

“As a business we are pro-active members of our community, and are proud of our links with local schools and the support we provide to events such as Shrewsbury Carnival and the Shrewsbury Dragon Boat Festival.

“Many of our employees also undertake community and charitable work both on site and during their spare time, and as a result we have collectively raised thousands of pounds for local organisations over the last year.

“We take great pride in our corporate social responsibilities and are looking forward to meeting with like-minded businesses to learn from their experiences, and further improve our contribution to the prosperity and sustainability of our local community.”

The launch event has attracted some high profile speakers including Richard Ellis, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility from the Boots Alliance plc, and Silke Machold, Head of Corporate Governance at the University of Wolverhampton Business School.

The launch of ShropShare is taking place on Thursday 17 October 2013 at 5-7pm at Caterpillar’s Shrewsbury base.   Free tickets for the launch can be booked via www.shropshare.eventbrite.co.uk.  For membership or launch enquiries please call Claire Carter on 07984 609025 or email claire@shropshare.org

ShropShare is being delivered by Impact Consultancy in partnership with the Voluntary and Community Sector Assembly (VCSA) and Shropshire Providers Consortium (SPC).
