Ifton Colliery Band to play at Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn LJC meeting

Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn Local Joint Committee (LJC) have invited Ifton Colliery Band to play at their next meeting.  The band received £1,120 funding from the committee to enable them to take part in the National Brass Band Championships at Cheltenham. 

The meeting, to be held at St Martins Centre on Tuesday 22 October 2013 at 7pm, will give residents an opportunity to learn more about the Connecting Shropshire project -building a broadband future.  Programme manager Chris Taylor will be on hand to answer any questions. 

Other items on the agenda include a short presentation about ‘Big Local’ from Partnership chair Nick Heard.

The committee have six applications for consideration in this round, including a request for a further allocation of £6,000 to ensure that the three Parish Youth Associations can continue to offer a range of holiday activities.

Councillor Steve Davenport, Chairman of the Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins & Weston Rhyn LJC, said:

“The LJC meetings are an opportunity for people to come forward and discuss ideas for the area.  We have funded 20 projects to date from this year’s budget, and are looking forward to supporting other groups that offer a community benefit.”
