Related topics: Community

A special Songs, Stories and Rhymes event for families will be held at Shropshire Council’s Holy Trinity Sure Start Children’s Centre in Oswestry this month.

Families with children under five years old are invited to join in with fun rhymes and songs, and listen to stories which will be brought alive by a professional storyteller with music, puppets and play, at the session on Tuesday 17 September 2013.

The event will take place from 9.15am to 11.15am at the children’s centre, on the Holy Trinity CE Primary School site, Middleton Road.

Families will also have an opportunity to play with a selection of toys, both indoor and outdoor, and meet other families with children under five.

Parents can chat to support workers for advice and information about children’s centre membership and what other groups and services are available in the area.

Alex Klages, children’s centre area leader for the north west, said:

“This is an opportunity for families to share the enjoyment of stories and music, have fun together playing with a variety of toys in a welcoming environment, and socialise with other families.

“The event also provides a chance to find out more about what children’s centres offer in Oswestry and how they can support families’ health and well-being and children’s learning and development.”

Martin Bennett, a local Shropshire Councillor for Oswestry East, said:

“I hope that as many as possible will come and have a fun time and see what is on offer in the way of support and advice.”

Free Stay and Play sessions for families with children under five also take place at the Holy Trinity children’s centre on Wednesday and Friday mornings, from 9am to 11.15am throughout the year.

In addition, children’s centre support workers can provide a range of support and information to families, both in groups and at home, if needed.

Shropshire Council Sure Start Children’s Centre Services provide a wide range of activities and support for families throughout Shropshire.
