Shire Services increases its services to Walsall schools

Three more schools have joined the Shire Services fold in the Walsall area. The Whitehall Nursery & Infant School and Christchurch C of E Primary school have joined the six other schools in the Walsall area who receive meals from Shire Services.

Christchurch C of E Primary School also provides meals to Sunshine Infants School.

Shire Services is a traded service of Shropshire Council and has a significant number of contracts outside of the county. Contracts outside the Shropshire county borders make up a third of their total turnover. Shire Services now operates in seven authorities in the West Midlands and Wales.

As a result, Shire Services are able to sustain many smaller rural services in Shropshire – many in areas that would not otherwise be able to afford a service.

Bill Campbell, business operations manager for Shire Services, said:

“We are immensely proud to have been chosen to provide services to these schools.  I think this demonstrates the quality of service that we have developed.”

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children’s services – transformation and safeguarding, said:

“Every visit I make to a school that uses Shire Services I have always been impressed by the very complimentary remarks I hear about their service.  They’ve continued to provide quality services and this is more reward for their excellent and hard work.”
