On Sunday, 22 September 2013, Shropshire Council’s Leisure Development Team hosted the annual Seven Bridges 10k Road Race and a one-mile fun run. The race started and finished at the Quarry in Shrewsbury town centre, and attracted 339 runners from across the country. The event, now in its sixteenth year, is now a firm fixture in the road race calendar for many athletes.

Paul Ward of Telford Athletics Club was the winner of the men’s ran, completing the route in a time of 33 minutes and 23 seconds.  The first female to finish was Nicola Davies from Shropshire Shufflers who won in a time of 40 minutes and 38 seconds. The fun run around the Quarry attracted 48 people with George Arthur first to complete the mile.

A complete list of results from the 10k race and the fun run can be found on the Seven
Bridges Road Race
page.

Shropshire Council extended their thanks to all the staff and volunteers that helped with the event and to the marshals who were provided by Shropshire Shufflers.

Councillor Gwilym Butler, Cabinet member for Leisure, Libraries and Culture said:

“The event was a great success and we were pleased that we had a good number of entries.  It was wonderful to see so many people in the Quarry cheering on the runners.”

The Seven Bridges road race and fun run will return for 2014 in the Quarry, details on date and how to register will be available from shropshire.gov.uk/leisure from early next year.
