Rock-a-Bye Roadshow coming to Baschurch

Related topics: Community / Health

A free Rock-a-Bye Roadshow will arrive at Shropshire Council’s Sure Start Baschurch Children’s Centre next month.

Families with babies who are not yet crawling are invited to get comfortable on beanbags, cushions or fluffy rugs and enjoy gentle, soothing music, multi-sensory lights and aromas, at the session on Wednesday 16 October.

The roadshow will take place at the children’s centre, on the Baschurch Village Hall site, Eyton Lane, Baschurch (SY4 2JN), from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

Parents and carers can also chat to support workers for advice and information about children’s centre membership and what other groups and services are available in the area.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children’s services, said:

“Everything throughout the session is designed especially so that parents, carers and their babies can be totally relaxed, enjoying a calming experience which supports children’s early learning and development.

“The music may remind parents and carers of lullabies they have heard as children, and introduce some new tunes and ideas to take home and try out at nap time.”

A weekly Bumps to Babes group for parents and their children aged up to 18 months old also runs at the Baschurch children’s centre on Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. In addition, a weekly Stay and Play session is held at the centre for families with children under five on Thursdays, from 9.15am to 11.30am. These groups run all year round and are free of charge.

Shropshire Council Sure Start Children’s Centre Services provide a wide range of activities and support for families throughout Shropshire.
