Public warning against doorstep road repair offer

Related topics: Community

Shropshire Council has become aware of incidents where men have falsely claimed to be working on roadworks on behalf of the council. The incidents occured in the Leighton area, however they may also have been working in other parts of Shropshire.

It has been reported that the men have been offering to do pot hole and tarmac repairs that members of the public wanted, with what they falsely claim are left over materials from council works nearby. The unidentified men were in possession of equipment and materials the council would not use for these types of work.

Shropshire Council urges residents not to take up the offer and to report any incidents of this nature to them and, if possible, to record the registration number of any vehicle. If you have been approached in this way please call 03456 789 006.
