Shropshire students, school staff, parents and carers have today been recognised for their hard work and dedication as GCSE results are celebrated in the county.

Early indications are that Shropshire’s results are again good, making 2013 another encouraging year.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children’s services, today said:

“Warm congratulations go to pupils on their success. We would also like to thank everyone who is part of our school communities, including teachers and headteachers, and the friends and family of our students, for their valued support and commitment.

“Their achievements are testament to how diligently pupils are prepared for their examinations and the hard work they put into their studies.

“This is such an important time for many young people as they progress from school to further study or the workplace, and I wish all of Shropshire’s students the very best for the future.”

School staff are available to provide advice and information. Shropshire Council can also be contacted for general advice and information, to support students as they make decisions about their next steps, via www.shropshireyouth.com or by calling 01743 258850.
