North planning committee decisions – 23 July 2013

The following planning decisions were made by Shropshire Council’s North planning committee at its meeting on Tuesday 23 July 2013 in Wem.

Hillbrook Drive Grindley Brook Whitchurch – 13/01182/FUL

Erection of single storey extension to side elevation; construction of outside kitchen/patio area; erection of boundary fencing to include change of use of land to domestic curtilage land.

Decision: That planning permission be refused in accordance with the officer’s recommendation. 

Residential Development Badgers Green Off Station Road Llanymynech – 13/00816/FUL

Reconfiguration of existing site layout (11/01639/FUL) to accommodate six additional dwellings.

Decision: That planning permission be granted in accordance with the officer’s recommendation. 

Millfield House, Fauls, Whitchurch – 13/00921/OUT

Outline application for the erection of a detached dwelling to include access.

Decision: That outline planning permission be refused in accordance with the officer’s recommendation. 

Edinburgh House New Street Wem – 13/01406/FUL

Internal and external alterations, and internal refurbishment; new access road and pedestrian path to rear and new additional car parking spaces.

Decision: That planning permission be granted in accordance with the officer’s recommendation. 

Proposed Affordable Dwelling Adjacent 5 Sandy Bank Whixall – 13/01914/FUL

Erection of a single storey affordable dwelling; detached double garage; formation of new vehicular access and installation of package treatment plant.

Decision: That, subject to: 

  • Condition 4 being amended to require a scheme of foul water drainage 
  • The completion of a Section 106 Legal Agreement, and 
  • The resolution of the ecology issue together with any other ecology conditions as may be required. 

The Area Planning Manager be given delegated authority to grant planning permission, in accordance with the officer’s recommendation. 

Land Off Mill Street, Wem – 12/05051/FUL

Erection of a three storey terraced block comprising 9 town houses and 13 apartments with associated external works, including formation of new vehicular access, estate road and car park.

Decision: That this item be deferred, as members were minded to refuse planning permission against the officer’s recommendation due to the following concerns: overdevelopment; adverse impact on the environmental corridor; an inappropriate scale, context and character.  A further report will therefore be prepared for a future meeting of this committee to consider recommended reasons for refusal.
