Shrewsbury-wide LJC meeting on 4 July

Related topics: Community / Democracy

The next Shrewsbury-wide Local Joint Committee (LJC) meeting is on Thursday 4 July 2013 at 7pm at the Council Chamber, The Guildhall, Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury, SY3 8HQ.

Speaking at the meeting will be Bill Longmore, the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia, who will examine future plans for the police force.  He will be followed by Inspector James Dunn, who will look at the local implications for Shrewsbury.

Among various partners there has been much discussion about local commissioning in Shrewsbury, but few understand what this means and how it will affect the delivery of our services in the future.  George Candler, Shropshire Council’s director of commissioning, will be present to explain.

Councillor Alan Mosley, the LJC’s chair, said:

“Building on the tremendous success of our meeting last November, when some 200 people attended an open forum, our next meeting promises to be just as interesting and valuable.  Changes to policing throughout West Mercia will be explained, with particular reference to what the impact will be in Shrewsbury, and all issues raised will be addressed.  Councillors, officers and representatives of other organisations will be present to hear the views of residents and answer questions.  We will also have some time to plan future agendas and decide on grant requests.”
