Visit your recycling centre this bank holiday weekend

Residents thinking about giving their homes a spring clean this Bank Holiday weekend are being urged to recycle their unwanted items at their local household recycling centre (HRC).

Shropshire Council provides five HRCs across the county where people can bring bulky waste, DIY waste, automotive items, waste electrical items, excess garden waste and other recycling.

The sites are open from 9am to 5pm every day of the week, including weekends and bank holidays.

So whether you’re spending your break sprucing up the garden, dabbling with a bit of DIY or de-cluttering the garage remember to recycle your waste this bank holiday.

Dr. Larry Wolfe, head of waste management at Shropshire Council said:

“If you are planning to have a clear out this bank holiday weekend or tackle some DIY don’t forget your local household recycling centre accepts a huge range of items for recycling including plasterboard, timber, soil, rubble and hardcore as well as more common materials such as paper, plastic, glass and cans.

“The centres are always popular over these holiday periods and so we would particularly like to remind all our visitors to separate your waste into different types before you visit to help make your visit to the site as smooth as possible.”

The five household recycling centres are at:

  • Shrewsbury HRC (Battlefield Enterprise Park)
  • Oswestry HRC (Mile Oak Industrial Estate)
  • Bridgnorth HRC (Faraday Drive)
  • Whitchurch HRC (Waymills Civic Park)
  • Craven Arms HRC (off Long Lane)
