Easter fun family events in north Shropshire

Related topics: Community

Families are invited to Easter fun events hosted by Shropshire Council’s Sure Start Children’s Centre services in north Shropshire next week.

Activities are taking place in Cheswardine and Market Drayton for families with young children during the holidays.

An Easter Fun session at Cheswardine Village Hall, Podmore Road, will be held on Tuesday 2 April 2013, from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Another Easter Fun session will be hosted at the Children’s Centre at Longlands Primary School, Linden Way, Fairfields, Market Drayton, on Friday 5 April 2013, from 9.30am to midday.

Both sessions offer the chance to enjoy a range of activities which support children’s early learning and development. The activities include Easter egg hunts, making bunny masks and other Easter crafts.

At the Cheswardine event, families can spot the signs of spring and investigate the outdoor environment on a nature walk.  At the Market Drayton session, Forest School activities will be available to again spot the signs of spring and investigate the outdoors.

Both sessions also provide the opportunity to find out more about the support Shropshire Council’s Sure Start Children’s Centre services can offer.  Parents can seek information and advice from children’s centre support workers about children’s centre membership and the other groups and services available in their local area.

Healthy snacks and cold drinks are provided during the sessions.  Older siblings are welcome to attend with their families.

Sharon Graham, Shropshire Council’s senior children’s centre support worker, said:

“These events are part of a range of activities organised by children’s centres for families with young children this Easter.

“Children’s centres provide opportunities to enjoy fun activities which support children’s learning, development and encourage healthy lifestyles, meet with other parents, socialise and share experiences, as well as gain advice and information to support parents and children’s well-being.

“We would urge families with young children to come along to the events: they are a great way to celebrate Easter and to find out more about what children’s centres can offer.”
