Changes to waste collections over Easter

Related topics: Community

Shropshire Council and its waste contractor Veolia are reminding people about changes to waste and recycling collections over Easter.

Collection crews will be working as normal on Good Friday (29 March 2013).

However, there are no waste collections taking place on Easter Monday (Monday 1 April 2013), and therefore all collections that week will take place a day later than normal.

The revised collection schedule for this week is as follows:

  • collections due on Easter Monday, 1 April will take place on Tuesday 2 April.
  • collections due on Tuesday 2 April will take place on Wednesday 3 April.
  • collections due on Wednesday 3 will take place on Thursday 4 April.
  • collections due on Thursday 4 April will take place on Friday 5 April.
  • collections due on Friday 5 April will take place on Saturday 6 April.

These revised dates are already highlighted on the collection calendars but can also be doublechecked online at shropshire.gov.uk/binday.

Shropshire’s five Household Recycling Centres are open as normal over the Easter period, from 9am to 5pm every day.

People are also reminded what to do if their waste and recycling collections are affected by the recent bad weather.

Bins should be put out as normal and left out until they are collected.

Boxes/sacks should be put out as normal but, if not collected, should be brought back in and put out again on the next scheduled collection day.
