A new weekend Shuttle bus service from Ludlow has been confirmed for 2013.

Castle Connect is the new Shropshire Hills Shuttle route linking Ludlow, Knighton, Clun and Bishop’s Castle.

Stephanie Hayes, Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership’s promotions officer, said:

“Whether you are into walking, shopping, castles or country pubs, this bus has it all and more.

“Funding from Shropshire Council’s sustainable transport project has enabled us to trial the route this year, and research undertaken in 2012 suggests this route with its stops at the different towns will be popular with visitors and residents alike.“

Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for transport, Councillor Simon Jones, added:

“I know how valued the Shropshire Hills Shuttle service is by local people and visitors so I’m delighted we have been able to fund this bus, which is great news for the area.”

Local bus company M & J Travel, based in Newcastle-on-Clun, has been awarded the contract and will be operating a 33-seater bus.  Company directors Jane and Jonathan Price said:

“We are looking forward to running this new bus service and hope it will be a great success.”

The Shropshire Hills Shuttle starts on Saturday 4 May 2013 and runs every weekend and Bank Holiday Monday until 29 September.  All details including routes, timetables and ticket prices are available at www.shropshirehillsshuttles.co.uk.
