Ludlow and Clee LJC – come along and get involved

Related topics: Democracy

Ludlow and Clee Local Joint Committee (LJC) is holding its next meeting at Ludlow Mascall Centre on Thursday 28 February 2013 at 7pm.

From 6.30pm there will be a Police PACT session, where you can speak to Seargeant Woolley about any concerns you have.

The main focus of the meeting will be young people, with a presentation from some of the young people who are working with South Shropshire Youth Forum on an action plan from their perspective for Ludlow.  There will also be the opportunity to ask your Shropshire Councillors, town councillors and parish councillors any questions you have and raise any concerns you have.

Councillor Rosanna Taylor-Smith, who chairs the meeting, said:

“Over the last year we have covered many interesting topics including Clee Hill wardens scheme on the litter pick work that they do; an update on the Ludlow sustainable transport project which is bringing a community ring and ride service into our town; a car club for Ludlow, which will be launched on 28 February 2013; and the Healthy Friendship group came and told us about their exercise and support groups.

“Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, take part in the discussions, and help us shape future meetings.  Do come along and join in.”

The LJC also distributes grants to help local community projects.  Some of the projects funded were:

  • New windows for the Women’s Centre
  • Equipment and training for the Working Together group
  • New bikes for St Laurence’s School
  • Activities and holiday club at Rockspring
  • A new kitchen for Clee Hill Nursery
  • New planters for Ludlow town centre
  • An after school hockey tournament for local schools
  • Swimming coach training for volunteers of Ludlow Swimming Club.
