Shropshire Council has commissioned Shropshire Tourism, the not-for-profit tourism marketing organisation for the county, to undertake Bed & Breakfast training for prospective B&B operators and new start-up B&Bs in Shropshire.  Two full day training sessions are currently being planned.

So, for anyone thinking about setting up a B&B in Shropshire, this is an ideal training session to find out more about running a B&B.  For any new B&B businesses operating for 12 months or less, the day will focus more on developing your marketing plan and operational issues to support your business.

Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for economic growth and prosperity, said:

“Our work with stakeholders on the Visitor Economy Strategy for north Shropshire and Oswestry suggested that we need to develop our accommodation offer in some areas in order to achieve our aims of growth.  We also have evidence from other parts of the county.  We want to stimulate interest, and help prospective business operators plan realistically for the best chance of success.”

Claire Owen, Senior Marketing Officer at Shropshire Tourism, said:

Over the last decade Shropshire Tourism has been delivering a comprehensive range of support services and advice to prospective and new start-up B&B businesses, so we are delighted to be awarded this contract and are looking forward to delivering this training on behalf of Shropshire Council.”

Claire from Shropshire Tourism continued:

“If you are thinking about setting up a B&B in Shropshire and would like advice on getting started, or if you have set up a B&B in Shropshire in the last 12 months and would like guidance to develop your marketing plan, we would like to encourage you to contact Shropshire Tourism to register your interest in attending a training day as soon as possible.”

There is no charge for attendees, but availability will be limited.  Telephone Shropshire Tourism on 01743 261919 or email cowen@shropshiretourism.co.uk to register your interest.
