Dads event in Ellesmere

Related topics: Community

A Saturday morning dads event will be held at Shropshire Council’s Sure Start children’s centre in Ellesmere on Saturday 9 February 2013.

The event, for dads with young children in Ellesmere and the surrounding areas, will take place from 10am to midday.

The session provides an opportunity for dads to stay and play with their children, and take part in creative activities to support their children’s early learning and development.  Male carers of young children are also welcome.

Children’s centre support workers will be available to offer information about children’s centre membership and what other groups and services are available in the area.  Healthy snacks and cold drinks are also provided during the session.

After February, the next events will be held on 11 May 2013 and 21 September 2013.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for health and well-being and Shropshire councillor for Ellesmere Urban, said:

“This event gives dads and male carers, including those who work or study during the week, the chance to benefit from children’s centre services at a time that is convenient to them.

“All dads and male carers from Ellesmere and the surrounding area are welcome to come along to enjoy the activities with their children and find out more about further support which is available.”

The children’s centre is at Ellesmere Primary School, Elson Road, Ellesmere, SY12 9EU.
