A Shrewsbury community building was filled with music and festive celebrations when Shropshire Council’s Community Living team hosted a carol service and hot supper for adults with learning disabilities.

The event was held, for the first time, at Louise House in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury on Thursday 13 December 2012.

Volunteers from Shrewsbury Youth Choir supported the event by leading the carols and Christmas songs.

A presentation was made to the singers by Carol Mosley, who is supported by the Community Living service.  She thanked them on behalf of all those that attended.

The hot supper was provided by Janice Tomlinson of Louise House Café.

Larain Evans, assistant manager for the Community Living team, said:

“It was absolutely lovely to see people enjoying the event.  We hope to repeat the event and build on its success for the future.”

Community Living supports adults with learning disabilities to live independently in ordinary housing, within their community, whether they are a private, social tenant or a homeowner.
