Sports clubs will be able to climb aboard the Club Leaders Learning Bus for free advice and support when it visits Shirehall in Shrewsbury today (Wednesday 24 October 2012).

Shropshire Council’s leisure services are very pleased to have been able to secure a visit to Shropshire from the bus, which will be at Shirehall from 2pm – 8pm.

The Club Leaders programme is a collaboration between Sport England and Price Waterhouse Cooper, which aims to help sports clubs members develop business skills appropriate to the running of their organisations.

On board the Club Leaders team will guide visitors through the resources available, which can then be utilised as appropriate for the purpose of supporting and strengthening club infrastructures.

The bus is taking a nationwide tour, giving sports clubs officials, volunteers, coaches and others the opportunity to visit and test out a number of training packages and programmes designed specifically for the purpose.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for active and healthy lifestyles, said:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for local sports clubs and groups, and I’m really pleased the bus will be visiting the county.

“The Olympics and Paralympics have made a huge difference in people’s perception of sports, and now is the perfect time for clubs to be growing and promoting themselves.

“I would encourage every local sports leader to attend this free workshop, to see how they themselves can get a boost from the 2012 Legacy.”
