Welshampton Primary School visits Tricia’s Pavilion

Related topics: Community

Tricia’s Pavilion in Cremorne Gardens, Ellesmere has been sympathetically restored to enable use by Friends of the Mere group to develop their school liaison and educational work.

The pavilion, which was formerly used as a changing facility and mothers room, has been locked up for a number of years following repeated acts of vandalism.  Friends of The Mere group received funding of £2,700 to install shutters to the windows, secured the door and add some display and storage areas to the interior.  The pavilion will be used by working groups as a meeting place and shelter.

Ann Hartley, local Shropshire Councillor for Ellesmere, said:

“I am delighted that Friends of the Mere have taken over the building and are planning how it can be used.  Seeing the children from Welshampton Primary School here brings back many happy memories of years gone by.  Investing time in working with local schools will help to raise awareness of the importance of our natural environment.  This is an excellent example of how LJC funding can be utilised to solve local issues.”
