Local residents are invited to come along to Whitchurch Library and meet West Midlands author Gaynor Arnold on Monday 10 September.

The event starts at 7pm and has been organised as part of the Literature on your Doorstep project which is bringing together Shropshire libraries and six West Midlands publishers to get more copies of regional books onto library shelves and to bring some of those writers into the library itself to meet the readers.

Shropshire Council’s Whitchurch Library had been chosen as the county’s representative in the project led by Writing West Midlands and the West Midlands Readers Network.

Gaynor will be talking about her latest book “After such kindness” at the Literature on your doorstep event. There will also be refreshments and a free prize draw to all who come along to the event to win a small bag of books kindly donated by Tindal Street Press, who publish Gaynor’s books.

Councillor Steve Charmley, Cabinet Member for Active and Healthy lifestyles said;

 “We are delighted that Whitchurch library has been chosen to support this project

 “This is a great opportunity for us to really support and increase our appreciation of our local authors and also to meet them in person.”

Councillor Peggy Mullock, local member for Whitchurch North said;

 “I would like to encourage residents to come along to this special event which Whitchurch has been selected to hold.”

“Tickets are available from the library and I hope if we are well supported that it will be able to be repeated frequently.”
