Rose Villa Bridge in Pontesbury to close for essential repairs

The Pontesbury to Hinton road will be closed to traffic on Monday 6 August 2012 for up to five days to enable repairs to be carried out to Rose Villa Bridge which carries a disused railway line over the road.

Unfortunately, because of the narrow nature of the bridge, it is necessary to close the road to traffic to carry out the work safely.

When the bridge is closed, traffic will be diverted along the A488 road via Lea Cross and Pontesbury.

Access under the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the proposed work.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for bridge maintenance, said:

“This is essential work which needs to be carried out.  It is appreciated that the road closure may cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen the road as soon as possible.”
