Families invited to enjoy Fun in the Sun

Related topics: Community / Leisure, culture and heritage

Families are invited to enjoy a range of activities at the Fun in the Sun community event in Market Drayton this month hosted by Shropshire Council’s Sure Start children’s centre services.

The free event will take place on Monday 30 July 2012 from 11am to 2pm at the children’s centre at Longlands Primary School, Linden Way, Fairfields.

Bob, the Shropshire Play Bus, will make an appearance, and the event will offer the chance to try out Forest School activities, sand and water play, and enjoy music, movement and storytime.  Healthy snacks will be available, and families are encouraged to bring along a picnic.

The event will also provide the opportunity to find out more about children’s centre services, which offer support for families with young children.  The team who work in the local area will be on hand to answer questions about the services that children’s centres provide across Market Drayton and in the surrounding areas.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council Cabinet member for health and well-being said:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for families to find out more about what children’s centres can offer, have an enjoyable day and take part in activities to support children’s learning and development.  I hope the sun comes out for everyone, but I’m sure everyone will have a great time whatever the weather.”

Other activities in the Market Drayton area include Stay and Play groups at the children’s centre at Longlands Primary School, which take place on Mondays from 1pm to 3pm and Fridays from 9.30am to 11.30am. A Stay and Play group is also held on Wednesdays from 1pm to 3pm and one Saturday each month at the children’s centre at Market Drayton Infant and Nursery School in Longslow Road.
