Members of Ellesmere Local Joint Committee (LJC) are looking forward to hearing about the progress made on the Ellesmere Martket Town Revitalisation Project at their meeting on Thursday 26 July 2012 at 7pm at Millennium Hall, Cockshutt.

Ellesmere LJC covers the parishes of Cocksutt Cum Petton, Welshampton and Lyneal, Welsh Frankton, Dudleston Heath and Ellesmere Town.

Chairman of the LJC, Shropshire Councillor Steve Davenport, said:

“We have had some exciting opportunities over the last year within our LJC area, and are one of a few areas that have benefited from both the Market Towns funding and Rural Challenge Initiative.  Councillors Hartley, Williams and I identified and have worked with the local groups who benefited from the funding that will support economic growth in the town.  By working with officers and partners, we will continue to support local groups.

“The LJC meeting gives Shropshire Councillors and parish councillors the opportunity to meet with people from the area and listen to issues that interest them.  Any concerns are raised, and we look into them and report back on progress.”

The committee have £15,710 available to allocate this financial year, and will look to allocate in the region of £5,000 at each of the meetings.  Applications coming forward at this meeting range from £200 to £2,500, and demonstrate a community benefit.  The next deadline for interested groups will be 2 November 2012.
