Comley No 2 Bridge to close for essential repairs

Related topics: Community

Comley No 2 Bridge, which carries the Comley to Hollyhurst road over a watercourse, will be closed to traffic from 8am until 5pm for up to five days starting on Monday 30 July 2012 to enable repairs to be carried out to it.

Unfortunately, because of the narrow nature of the bridge, it is necessary to close it to traffic to carry out the work safely.

When the bridge is closed, traffic between Comley and Hollyhurst will be diverted past Botvyle.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the proposed work.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for bridge maintenance, said:

“This is essential work which needs to be carried out.

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”

Tim Barker, Shropshire Councillor for Burnell, said:

“The work has been scheduled so as to allow the road to remain open in the evening and early morning.  I understand that disruption will be inevitable for some; however, it should be kept to a minimum.”
