The StrettonDale Local Joint Committee (LJC) will be discussing youth services at their next meeting on Thursday 28 June 2012 at 7pm.  The meeting takes place at Rushbury Village Hall.

Members of Church Stretton youth club, which meets at the Mayfair Centre, will be attending the meeting and showing a short film which focuses on issues affecting young people in the area.  The group is supported by South Shropshire Youth Forum.

LJC chairman, Shropshire Councillor Tim Barker, said:

“Our June meeting will give us an opportunity to see what young people in the Church Stretton area think about living here, and what opportunities there are for them to take part in activities outside of school hours.  As a committee we will discuss how best we can support young people through the LJC and town and parish councils.”

The meeting will also include an update on a new community tree scheme being launched to mark the Jubilee year, and the committee will be reviewing applications for funding. These include an application to help establish a community apple juice project in Rushbury, and an application from the Church Stretton Ring and Ride Scheme.

The public will also be able to ask questions of their local councillors, and there will be updates from each parish council on activities in their area.
