Flooding in south Shropshire

Roads have been closed in the Bridgnorth area following this morning’s severe weather.  (Thursday 28 June 2012)

  • The A454 from the Hermitage to Rudge Heath, at Swancote, is still closed.  Traffic is being diverted via B4176 at Sutton Maddock and the A442 to Bridgnorth.  The closure will be in place until at least until the end of Friday 29 June 2012, due to mud on the road that needs cleaning off.
  • Halfway House Lane in Eardington, which was closed, is now open.
  • Roughton Village road is closed – likely to be closed until late Saturday 30 June 2012.
  • Rook Lane, Roughton – road closed, likely to be closed until late Saturday 30 June 2012. 

The B4555 is open, but traffic is being controlled via traffic lights. 

Worfield Endowed Primary School has closed from 1pm today, due to flooding and consequent electrical problems.

Bitterley Primary School near Ludlow has also closed for today.

The council’s highways teams are now busy sweeping the roads so that they can reopen them as quickly as possible.
