Olympic Torch Relay in Much Wenlock

Related topics: Community / Leisure, culture and heritage

Around 10,000 people, including the national media descended on Much Wenlock today (Wednesday 30 May 2012) to line the streets and welcome the Olympic Torch Relay.

Highlights from the lunchtime stop include a successful World Record attempt by the students at William Brookes School – they managed to run 231, 100m relays in one hour, smashing the record which is 191; and Olympic Archer Alison Williamson carrying the Torch out of school.

Unfortunately the live feed from the BBC went down just before the Torch arrived in the town, the birthplace of the modern Olympics.

However, there are loads of photos and videos on the council’s Facebook page which people can see by clicking here.
