Important changes to bin collections

Related topics: Community

Some bin collections will take place early this weekend due to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Holiday.

There are no waste collections taking place on Bank Holiday Monday (June 4 2012) nor on Bank Holiday Tuesday (June 5 2012), and so throughout this week collections will be rescheduled.

Therefore the revised collection schedule for this week is as follows:

  • Monday 4 June  – collections will take place on Saturday 2 June instead
  • Tuesday 5 June – collections will take place on Wednesday 6 June instead
  • Wednesday 6 June  – collections will take place on Thursday 7 June instead
  • Thursday 7 June – collections will take place on Friday 8 June instead
  • Friday 8 June – collections will take place on Saturday 9 June instead

Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for waste management, said:

“Please remember that your waste collection day will change due to the Diamond Jubilee Bank Holidays.  To check your rescheduled waste collection dates visit shropshire.gov.uk/binday.”

Donald Macphail, managing director of Veolia Shropshire, added:

“All of these day changes are clearly highlighted on the calendars we distribute.  If in doubt double check your calendar or visit shropshire.gov.uk/binday.”

Household Recycling Centres are open as normal over this period, that is from 9am to 7pm Mondays to Fridays and 9am to 6pm on weekends and Bank Holidays.  For more information on your local waste services visit www.recycleforshropshire.com
