Resurfacing work in Ludlow this Sunday

Related topics: Community

Old Street and Gravel Hill in Ludlow will be resurfaced this Sunday morning (20 April 2012) by Shropshire Council’s contractors Colas between 8am and 12.30pm, which may lead to slight traffic delays.

A temporary diversion route will be set up between 7.30am and midday, as Brand Lane will be closed when work is taking place at the junction of Brand Lane and Old Street.

This is remedial work by Colas after some of the original surfacing done in 2011 was defective and now needs replacing. This will be done by Colas at no extra cost to Shropshire Council.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for highways maintenance, said:

“I’d like to apologise in advance for any disruption this essential resurfacing work may cause.  We have timed this work to take place on a Sunday morning, before the beginning of the Ludlow Festival season, to minimise any effect on residents and visitors.”

Rosanna Taylor-Smith, local Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow North, said:

“I hope this repair work will be carried out with the minimum of disruption this Sunday so that Ludlow is ready for the arrival of the May Fair the following week.”
