New family room at Ludlow’s Rockspring Community Centre

Parents with children under five years old, carers, professionals and the wider community are all invited to come along and visit Shropshire Council’s newly-developed Sure Start children’s centre family room at a Ludlow community centre. 

A variety of activities for families with children under five years old are now available at the family room in the Rockspring Community Centre. 

An open morning will be held on Thursday 26 April 2012 from 9.30am to 12pm to show people the new facility and the services on offer. 

During the morning visitors can take part in free fun activities, including the opportunity to drop in to the ‘Rockspring Thursday’ activities session and Sure Start children’s centre support workers will be on hand to answer questions and offer support. 

Councillor Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for health and well-being, said:

“This family room is a great addition to existing children’s centre services, increasing the ways that we can provide support to families in preparing children for school, helping parents in their role and improving health and well-being. 

“The open morning provides an opportunity for people to see the new family room and what it can offer families.  I would encourage anyone interested in finding out more to come along on Thursday.” 

Rosanna Taylor-Smith and Martin Taylor-Smith, Shropshire councillors for Ludlow, said:

“We are pleased to be able to offer this new service to parents with children under five and hope many of them will come along to the Rockspring Centre and find out what the new Sure Start family room has to offer them.”
