Shropshire Council is calling for local businesses to reserve their place at the Business Summit next month (Monday 14 May 2012) for a chance to help shape and grow Shropshire’s economy.

The Business Summit will take place from 5.30pm at Shrewsbury Town FC’s Greenhous Meadow.

Following the previous year’s format of questions and answers, this year’s summit promises to be more interactive around the theme of “embracing new opportunities to grow the Shropshire economy”.  As well as having the chance to ask questions, there will also be facilitated roundtable discussions enabling delegates to raise ideas and opportunities to grow Shropshire’s economy.

This dynamic approach will look to businesses to make the most of the ‘best’ of Shropshire, and how they can work with the council and other partners to provide the conditions that will help grow the economy.  The evening will also include a presentation outlining what’s changed in the local economy and a summary of emerging opportunities for businesses.

Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for economic growth and prosperity, said:

“This summit is a different format from previous summits.  We’re encouraging as many businesses as possible to come along and make their contribution count.”
