Bright future for Market Drayton market

Market Drayton market is set for investment and improvement after an established firm was awarded the contract to run the market.

Shropshire Council invited tenders for the running of the market earlier in the year, and the contract has been won by LSD Promotions, which runs a number of successful markets across the West Midlands.

Discussions are now taking place between the new operator and traders in relation to the new arrangements and how they will be implemented.

Roger Hughes, a local Shropshire Councillor for Market Drayton West, said:

“The appointment of LSD Promotions, a highly professional and experienced company, is a very exciting addition to the Market Drayton revitalisation programme.  The development of the street market is crucial to attracting more shoppers.  LSD Promotions, together with Shropshire Council, have exciting plans for the future development of street trading in Market Drayton, which cannot fail to bring more prosperity to the town and all involved.”

Market director, Dermot McGillicuddy, said:

“LSD are pleased and excited to be awarded the contract to operate this historic market and having spoken to a lot of the traders; they also are looking forward  to implementing the upgrade plans to restore this market to its rightful place as Shropshire’s premier street market on a Wednesday, and top quality indoor market.  I have to say the interest from new traders has been phenomenal and we expect a full market within weeks.”
