A new household recycling facility in Faraday Drive, Bridgnorth opened its doors yesterday (Tuesday 20 March 2012).  The new recycling centre is run by Veolia Environmental Services on behalf of Shropshire Council.

The new facility consists of a recycling centre, transfer station and transport depot, where residents can recycle over 30 different types of materials.

Councillor Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for waste and recycling, said:

“Shropshire needs a way of increasing recycling and this facility will help to achieve this.”

Christian Lea, a Shropshire Councillor for Bridgnorth East and Astley Abbotts, said:

“With the new Household Recycling Centre having opened on Faraday Drive, local residents now have more recycling opportunities than they had previously at the Barnsley Lane site.  This will help to improve recycling rates in Shropshire and at the same time, help to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.”

Donald Macphail, Managing Director for Veolia Shropshire, added:

“The new facility will mean that the residents of Bridgnorth can enjoy the same level of facilities and services as the rest of the county.”
