Extended opening hours at household recycling centres

Shropshire Council and their contractor Veolia Environmental Services (UK) Ltd are reminding residents about extended opening hours at the Household Recycling Centres (HRCs).

Shropshire Council runs five HRCs.  These are manned facilities where people can drive in and unload large quantities of waste and recycling into separate bays.  At the HRCs people can recycle over 30 different types of material.

The HRCs are:

  • Bridgnorth HRC (Faraday Drive Industrial Estate)
  • Craven Arms HRC (Craven Arms Business Park, off Long Lane)
  • Oswestry HRC (Mile Oak Industrial Estate)
  • Shrewsbury HRC (Battlefield Enterprise Park)
  • Whitchurch HRC (Waymills Civic Park)

The sites are now open from 9am until 7pm Mondays to Fridays, and 9am until 6pm on weekends and Bank Holidays.  This arrangement will remain in place until the clocks go back in October 2012.

Councillor Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for waste and recycling, said:

“As the evenings are getting lighter we are making our sites open later into the evening to make it even more convenient for residents to recycle.”
