Shropshire Council’s Registration Service is trialling late afternoon and early evening opening at their office based at the maternity unit at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The office is open for the registration of births by maternity inpatients only from 11.30am to 6.30pm on Thursdays until 1 March 2012.

The office will maintain its usual opening hours of 9.30am to 4.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

Appointments at this office are not required and customers will be seen on a first come, first served basis.

Councillor Martin Taylor-Smith, Cabinet member with responsibility for the registrars service, said:

“The trial of the new opening hours at our registration office is really good news for new parents, and is another great example of how we are making our locally-based services more accessible to our customers.   I hope the trial proves successful.”
