The next meeting of the Longden, Ford and Rea Valley Local Joint Committee (LJC) will be held on Wednesday 29 February 2012 at 7pm at Longden Village Hall (Arthur Swire Memorial Hall).

At the meeting Kate Garner, Shropshire Council’s community action manager, will do a short presentation on localism and the opportunities for communities that arise from it. This will be an opportunity for individuals and some of the many community groups that exist in the area to come forward and discuss how the new Localism Bill may affect their futures.

Paul Beard, Shropshire Council’s waste contracts manager, will be in attendance to update local residents on what Shropshire Council is doing regarding the cardboard recycling issue. He will talk about the pilot schemes now running in the county and offer the public a comprehensive list of sites at which they can most easily do their cardboard recycling, as well as answering any questions people may have.

As well as hearing an update from the local police team those present will be asked their views on funding applications from Habberley and Hanwood Village Hall Committees, Pontesbury Youth Club and Pontesbury Cricket Club prior to members casting their votes.

Chair of the LJC, Shropshire Councillor Tudor Bebb, said:-

“I am really looking forward to welcoming members of the public to the meeting and addressing any concerns that they may have.”
