Anyone thinking of starting a career in childcare is being invited to an information session being held in Shrewsbury on Wednesday 8 February 2012.

Shropshire Council’s early years team is holding the event as part of National Apprenticeship Week for school leavers, anyone thinking of moving into childcare or changing careers.

The aim of the event is to promote the benefits of apprenticeships and raise awareness of the potential career paths within the childcare sector.

Former apprentices will tell their success stories and how they got started in their childcare career.  Speakers will also highlight the routes to take to become a childminder, and an early years professional will talk about her journey from leaving school, through to taking a degree and running her own nursery.

Local training providers will also be available to discuss the qualifications and study routes available in the area.

The session will run from 4.30pm to 6pm at The Guildhall in Shrewsbury.  For more information contact Louise Almond, project officer, on 01743 254569 or email louise.almond@shropshire.gov.uk
