Officers from Shropshire Council’s environmental maintenance team and local Councillor Rosanna Taylor Smith were pleased to work with other authorities and volunteers to litter pick Ludlow town centre on Monday 17 October 2011.

A total of eight bags of litter were collected from around the outside of Ludlow’s historic castle as part of the national Love Where You Live Action Day run by Keep Britain Tidy.

Various general litter was picked up within an hour and a half from the castle gardens and walks, at Dinham Millennium Green, along the Linney and in the Garden of Rest at St Laurence’s Parish Church.

Councillor Martin Bennett, Shropshire Council’s deputy Cabinet member, said:

“The day was a great success.  I’d like to thank everyone for working so hard, on top of the council’s routine cleans, to keep the town looking at its best.”

Rosanna Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow North, said:

“It was good to be stopped by members of the public interested in what we were doing and congratulating the volunteers’ efforts.  Clearly, the work was being appreciated.  We are very grateful for the time and effort the volunteers have so generously given.”
